1. Billion Dollar Computer Services FirmOne of the nation’s leading providers of computer support personnel had a national contract with one of the top three temporary companies in the world to provide them with a steady supply of qualified technical personnel. Although a great pricing rate was achieved, it was quickly discovered that the loss of revenue to inefficient staffing cost them more than the perceived savings of a low pricing schedule. Their “savings” were completely negated because the national temporary firm was not able to provide them with the support that was promised.
2. Large Metropolitan BankThe Bank reviewed its human resources function in the area of temporary and contract staffing. It was determined that the Bank should explore the advantages of consolidating services and selecting only three or four staffing firms with which to do business.
After reviewing proposals and meeting with several staffing firms, the Bank selected Grafton, and its innovative Manages Services Program, to manage its temporary and contract staffing functions.
3. Food Distribution CenterThe Food Distribution Center had a process for the use of temporary support staff that only used three staffing firms to provide their company with temporary personnel. At the time it was felt that “no one firm” could provide them with the quantity and the quality of personnel they needed on a consistent basis.
After two years, they discovered they were unable to achieve a consistent level of support from two of the three firms. This was because there was no “commitment” from the Food Distribution Center to any one temporary service firm. Consequently, some of the temporary service firms were less than “100% committed” to providing them with competitive pricing, premium service, or long term temporary planning.
Grafton presented the Food Distribution Center with a plan that would provide them with a year-long strategy which specifically addressed the issues of competitive pricing, recruiting in a high employment economy, staffing special projects and temporary-to-hire programs, while providing a quality service with 100% commitment to their needs.
